The President has said that if anyone did something wrong at Haditha, he will be punished. That’s how it has to be. Let’s wait, though.
The WashPost publishes the extent of what they know:
Military investigators have evidence that points toward unprovoked murders by Marines, a senior defense official said last week.
Perhaps their “senior defense official” is Clark Clifford’s old janitor.
I wish they’d source this stuff or just not publish it.
The two which most concern me at the moment are the deaths of Cpl. Richard A. Bennett, 25, of Girard, Kansas and of Capt. Nathanael J. Doring, 31, of Apple Valley, Minnesota. These Marines died Tuesday as a result of a non-combat helicopter accident on near Al Taqaddum, Iraq last Saturday.
May God keep them in his care and comfort their families.

You say “If anything did anything wrong at Haditha.” What part of “murdering two dozen innocent Iraqis is wrong” do you not understand? Congratulations — you Americans have now done something that will make people pay less attention to Abu Ghraib. I’m waiting for news about other massacres by U.S. troops to be revealed. But perhaps U.S. newspapers will do you a favour and not publish the information. As Jack Nicholson said in “A Few Good Men” (a movie dealing with another military murder cover-up) “You can’t handle the truth!” Meanwhile, I’m waiting for the day when President Cheney, George Bush, War Minister Rumsfeld and others are hauled before an international war crimes tribunal…

Bukko in Austrailia:
Nate Doring was a sharp soldier who served honorably and with respect for the people of Iraq. He was a 4-year deans list student, honors grad, captain of this and that, and could have had good pay in an engineering job, yet he volunteered to serve our country for over 7 years. Nate was my cousin, and we are all mighty proud of the professionalism with which he did his job.
How can you answer that blog posting with such small-minded and useless comments? You know nothing about these people. A few bad apples are all you hear about in the media, and you apparently lack the intellect to see that 99% of those soldiers are doing their jobs as best as they can. The difference between you and those who don’t post such rants is that they can distill information for themselves and think about the big picture. You, on the other hand, can only play the part of the cynic, the easy role where you mimic “popular” views to hear yourself speak.
Just think of the things that could be accomplished in the world if no one was like you, but rather brought productive ideas to the table.
